CHAPTER 8

CSR Roll which stands for customer service representative roll;  This is the person you will go to find all the ends and out about a job.

Taking with the Printer- You should always talk to your printer; whenever there is something on a piece you are getting printed that you feel a printer might not fully understand by just looking at the piece you should always talk with the printer, this will make the whole producation process run much smoother.

Planning for Print- When printing these are the key elements that must be completed and planned out. external document size, adequate bleed, internal panel sizes, artwork interactions with folds, perforations or die cut trims, correct number of pages, and correct inks

Checking Raster Images- resolution, scaling, color space, retouching, rotations and filenames

Checking Vectors- there are also guidelines when dealing with vector images; correct colors, images, fonts, text and bleeds

Types of Proofs-  The types of proofs are Image proofs and page proofs.

Chapter 9- Photoshop CS4 Production Tips
Scaling and Rotating in Adobe Photoshop- When Scaling and Rotating you should try to have both done close to what you actually want to see in your project.

Resolution for Output-  Printing has many different variable that are determined. The higher your lpi is you must have a even higher ppi so none of the image is lost.

Flatten or Layered- Flatten is where the image can not be changed and moved around, layered is where you are able to see all of the elements in a design.

Transparency- How see-through an image is. the value is shown in percentage in the opacity setting.

Creating a Path- The best way to create a path is to use the pen tool.

Duotones- is a picture that consisits only 2 colors,  they are usually black and another color.

Chapter 10-Illustrator CS4 Production Tips
Artboards- These can be seen a notepads with you can mix and match your designs and ideas. Artboards are able to show you different options.

Bleed Settings-Bleeds should usually be set for 1/4 inch, this will assure you artwork will bleed.

Simplify Complex Art-The best way to simplify complex art work  remove any unnecessary points..

Clean Up- In Illustrator you are able to clean up drawings. first select  Object menu > path > clean up. Clean up removes anything that is unneccessary.

Effects & Clipping Mask- The effects menu has two primary sections, which consist of  Illustrator Effects and Photoshop Effects.

Transparency- The ability for how much of an object is able to be seen.

Linked & Embedded Images- When placing an a image in an Illustrator file you have to option to link or embed the images.  When linking an image it results in a smaller file, embedding an image increases the file size .
